The Seniors are hosting a trip to the Grant Cottage in Wilton, NY about a one-hour drive from church.
Ulysses S. Grant was the commanding general who led the Union Armies during the Civil War. Praised for his victory, Grant was later elected the 18th president of the United States (1869-1877). Grant moved to this cottage in 1885 battling terminal throat cancer and lived there to complete his memoirs. His funeral also took place there. We will have a 1-hour guided tour of the cottage. Now a NY State Park, Grant’s Cottage contains original artifacts and clothing. A BYO picnic on the grounds is planned for after the tour which provides scenic views overlooking the Hudson Valley, Adirondacks, Green Mountains, and the Catskills, as well as the site of the Battles of Saratoga.
So, mark your calendars and watch for further info. All are welcome to join us!
