JUBILATE SINGERS AND ORCHESTRA –
20th and FINAL CONCERT
“GOD IS LOVE”
Music by Brahms, Haydn, Mendelssohn, Rutter, Schultz
It was a beautiful morning in 2001 when a letter went out inviting potential singers from area churches to join voices to form a choir. The response was better than imagined. More than 100 singers met at Bethlehem Lutheran Church on a Sunday afternoon to begin rehearsals for presenting Handel’s MESSIAH in the spring of 2002. Those who came were seeking a group with whom they could share the joy of singing music that glorified God. During that year, it was apparent that the group wanted to continue, and so a name was chosen, and the Jubilate Singers and Orchestra went on to present 18 annual concerts through 2019.
After a 2-year COVID break, the 19th concert was presented in 2022. This year’s concert will be the group’s 20th and final performance under the direction of Dr. Ralph Schultz, founder and conductor of the Jubilate Singers and Orchestra.
All of the concerts and monthly rehearsals have been held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church except for one at Troy Music Hall to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. Some of the Singers also participated in a joint chorus and orchestra concert at Carnegie Hall. The Singers enjoyed those opportunities, but Bethlehem Lutheran Church has been our “home,” and we are truly grateful to our church for welcoming and hosting us all of these years!
The Jubilate Singers have been greatly blessed by our opportunities to proclaim God’s love through music. We pray that many have been blessed by attending our concerts, and we hope you will join us to share in one more musical blessing.
